1931
A Legacy Built Across Generations
Every successful company has a story. Ours began long before Beaman's became the trusted name it is today. In 1931, A.E. "Arch" Beaman moved his family from Iowa to California in search of new opportunities. During the Great Depression, he worked with the Works Progress Administration (WPA) before establishing himself as a general contractor in the Oakland and Piedmont area.
1946
The Start of Something Enduring
Following his service in World War II, Roger Beaman joined his father in 1946, forming Beaman's Paint and Decorating. Soon after, Roger and his brother, Faye Beaman, acquired the original Piedmont Electric Company, a business whose roots date back to 1916. That acquisition laid the foundation for the company we proudly represent today.
Growing With Every Generation
Over the decades, the business continued to evolve while remaining family-owned and operated. During this period:
- The company operated as Beaman's Piedmont Electric and Paint
- Arch Beaman managed the retail store on Piedmont Avenue, supplying paint, wallpaper, and electrical materials
- Roger and Faye completed general building, electrical, and painting projects throughout the Bay Area
- The company steadily expanded its expertise while maintaining a reputation for dependable workmanship
1976
Passing the Torch
By 1976, Arch Beaman retired at the age of 83, and Faye had transitioned to a distinguished career with the Oakland Fire Department, ultimately retiring as a lieutenant. That same year, Roger's sons, Rodney and Denis Beaman, joined the family business, continuing the next generation of leadership.

The Beginning of Beaman's
In 1976, the company was officially incorporated as Beaman's. Roger Beaman, alongside his wife Mildred and sons Rodney and Denis, established a company name that reflected not only the Beaman family but also the expanding scope of their construction expertise.
1996
A Legacy of Leadership
Over the following two decades, Rodney and Denis strengthened both their technical craftsmanship and leadership abilities while serving clients throughout Northern California. The passing of Rodney Beaman in 1996 marked a significant loss for the company and the family. Between 1996 and 2006, Beaman's remained dormant while Denis Beaman pursued opportunities managing multimillion-dollar electrical construction projects across the Bay Area. Those experiences added valuable project management knowledge that continues to shape the company's approach today.
