BEAMAN'S INC.

Beaman’s Inc. is a family owned and operated contracting firm based in Oakland California, serving Northern  California. We are licensed with the California State Licensing Board as a (B) General Building Contractor with specialty classifications C10-Electrical and C33- Painting and Decorating.

In 1931 A.E. (Arch) Beaman brought his family from Iowa to California for prosperity and sunshine. Arch worked in the WPA during the depression years and eventually became a general contractor settling in the Oakland/Piedmont area of Northern California. 

In 1946, upon returning from service in WWII, Roger Beaman joined forces with his father and formed Beaman’s Paint and Decorating, shortly thereafter along with Roger’s brother Faye Beaman the family acquired the original Piedmont Electric Co. (circa 1916).

For the next three decades the business was known as Beaman’s Piedmont Electric and Paint. Arch Beaman ran the retail store on Piedmont Aveselling paint, wallpaper and electrical supplies while Roger and Faye contracted general building, electrical, and painting jobs.

By 1976 Arch Beaman had retired from the business at the age of 83, Faye Beaman had left the business years prior to pursue a career as an Oakland Firefighter (retiring as a Lieutenant) , and now Roger’s two son’s, Rodney and Denis, came forth to carry on the tradition. 

In 1976 the family business was incorporated with the State of California.  Roger Beaman along with his wife Mildred and two sons formed Beaman’s Inc. The name not only encompassing the family, but also incorporating the varied business activities and interests as well.

During the next two decades the Beaman’s carried on the tradition. Both Rodney and Denis, over the watchful eyes of Roger, were afforded the opportunity to expand their insight into the construction industry not only honing their technical skills as craftsmen, but, developing valuable management expertise while serving the company and industry in many capacities. The untimely death of Rodney Beaman in 1996 left a void which can never be replaced. 

From 1996 to 2006, the company was dormant while Denis Beaman took time to pursue other interests. It was during that period that Denis learned valuable skills managing multi-million dollar projects for various electrical contracting firms throughout the Bay Area.

Electrical Construction Group:

We are proud to continue our work as electrical contractors, having come along way since the founding of Piedmont Electric Co. in 1916. While we no longer ride a bicycle to perform our service calls, we still go out of our way to accommodate the customer’s needs. We are licensed C-10 electrical contractors and are experienced and proficient in complete electrical systems for Residential, Commercial, and Industrial projects. All electricians employed are state certified as required. Over the years we have worked on various residential projects including high end custom homes both new and remodel throughout the greater bay area. We wired approximately 20 new custom homes in the Oakland hills following the devastating fire of 1989. Commercially, we have completed office buildings, medical offices, retail stores, banks, auto dealerships, parking lots, warehouses, and amusement centers.
